Alexander Greep & Tate Insurance was founded in 1993 by Kim Alexander & Stephen Greep with a vision of creating an insurance agency built on trust, relationships, and a deep commitment to serving the South Florida community. As lifelong Fort Lauderdale residents with deep roots in the area, they built the agency around a simple philosophy — provide knowledgeable guidance, personal service, and insurance solutions tailored to the unique needs of local homeowners, families, and businesses.

In 2001, Fort Lauderdale native Johnathan Tate joined the agency as a producer, completing the leadership team that would help shape Alexander Greep & Tate Insurance into the trusted independent agency it is today. Through hard work, industry expertise, and a commitment to building lasting client relationships, Johnathan worked his way from producer to partner and now serves as President of AGT Insurance.

What makes AGT unique is not only our experience, but our connection to the community we serve. Kim Alexander, Stephen Greep, and Johnathan Tate are all Fort Lauderdale High School Graduates, and natives. Their local knowledge, community relationships, and firsthand understanding of the region’s unique challenges have helped define the agency’s approach for more than three decades.

Our Story

Johnathan Tate was born in Central Florida and raised in Fort Lauderdale, where he developed the strong community ties that continue to shape both his life and career today. A graduate of Fort Lauderdale High School (Class of 1992), Johnathan attended the University of Alabama, where he met his wife, Casie, and graduated in 1997.

Johnathan has worked in the insurance industry since graduating from college, beginning his career with Allstate in Florida and Louisiana, before returning home to Fort Lauderdale in 2000 with his wife and young son. They later welcomed two daughters to complete their family. In 2001, Johnathan joined Alexander & Greep Insurance as a producer and built his career helping South Florida families and businesses navigate an increasingly complex insurance marketplace. Over the years, he worked his way up to partner and today serves as President of Alexander Greep & Tate Insurance.

With more than 28 years of insurance experience and a career focused on Property & Casualty and Homeowners insurance, Johnathan brings deep knowledge of the unique challenges facing South Florida property owners and businesses. His experience extends beyond insurance into real estate transactions, investment properties, and contract negotiations — giving him valuable perspective when helping clients protect what matters most and make informed decisions about risk and asset protection.

He believes insurance is about more than policies and premiums; it is about understanding people, helping them navigate change, and being a trusted resource when they need it most.

Johnathan remains actively involved in both the community and the insurance industry. He is a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale and has served in numerous leadership roles, including Chairman of the Board at Happyland Day School, and is a member of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale Rotary Club. He is also an active member and former board member of Broward Big I Insurance, serves on the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Program for Public Information (PPI) initiative supporting flood preparedness and community flood insurance savings efforts, and serves on Bankers Insurance Group’s Agent Advisory Council.

Outside of work, Johnathan’s greatest passion is his family and investing in his community. One of his proudest accomplishments has been coaching youth soccer at Holiday Park, where he has coached more than 25 teams over the years, mentoring countless young athletes — including his own children. A lifelong soccer fan, he has also been a season ticket holder for Inter Miami CF since the club’s founding.

Johnathan also enjoys experiencing food and cuisines from around the world and appreciates South Florida’s incredible diversity of restaurants and cultures. He is always searching for the next great local spot to share a memorable meal with family and friends.
